The following message is from Lou Skrinar, Chief, Import Program, Food of Animal Origin Division at the CFIA. Dr. Skrinar can be reached at [email protected], or by telephone at 613-22107041.

CFIA has approved importation from the US of boneless beef derived from cattle less than 30 months of age and slaughtered in the US, beef liver and meat products manufactured from these products.

The required new certification statements are specified in sections 3.4 and 3.5 of the accompanying Conditions for Importation of Meat Products from the United States, amended on 19 April 2004, and found on the CSCB web site at:

The statements may be entered in the remarks of the official certificate or they may also be presented on USDA/FSIS letterhead attached to the certificate. The letter must be cross-referenced to the appropriate certificate number and must bear an original signature and date identical to the certificate. In the “remarks” section of the certificate, the following statement must appear:

“Remarks continuation sheet attached”, or a phrase to that effect.
