Annual American Trade Symposium Rescheduled for January, 2005

The following is extracted from a press release issued on 20 October by US Customs and Border Protection. Members were notified of the original date for this meet on 10 September.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Robert C. Bonner … announced that the agency's 5th annual Trade Symposium scheduled to begin on December 8 has been rescheduled to ensure a wider participation by government and the international trade and transportation community. The symposium will now be held from January 12-14, 2005 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, DC.

The symposium will open with a pre-registration reception on the evening of January 12, followed by a day and a half of events beginning January 13. This year's theme is "Security and Facilitation of Trade: The Way Forward." The event will include discussions between senior CBP managers and representatives of the international trade and transportation community. Panels for the symposium will include a Department of Homeland Security/Border and Transportation Security Executive roundtable, Trade Act of 2002 implementation, Bioterrorism Act of 2002, the Container Security Initiative (CSI), and the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE).

Registration for the symposium will open on November 1st and must be made online at www.cbp.gov. The registration fee is $150.
