Request for Tariff Relief on Carbon Dioxide in Non-Refillable Cylinders

The Department of Finance is seeking members’ views on a request that the Department has received for tariff relief on carbon dioxide in non-refillable cylinders for use in the manufacture of inflatable personal flotation devices. They are proposing to create the following duty-free tariff item No. and wording as follows:

2811.21.10 -- -in non-refillable cylinders for use in Canadian manufactures

These products are currently classified under tariff item No. 2811.21.00 and are dutiable at 3.5 per cent under the Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) tariff.

They would then create a basket item for all other carbon dioxide with a duty rate of MFN 3.5 per cent as follows:

2811.21.90 --- Other
