CN Service Update - UTU Workers Back at Work

The majority of UTU workers have now been back at work in CN’s Eastern Region for several days, and we have re-instated our normal scheduled trains and scheduled local services.

Equipment supply is also improving in our Eastern Region. We have received your weekly orders as placed today in our Guaranteed Car Order system. We encourage you to continue placing extra orders beyond our regular Tuesday cut-off. We are focused on helping our customers recover from the backlog created by the labour disruption.

We continue to see progress every day from UTU employees returning to work in CN’s Western Region. Our focus is on reestablishing network balance across our system and providing the best possible service to our customers. We will continue to serve our customers using management personnel where necessary.

A significant snowstorm in Wisconsin and the upper US mid-west is currently impacting our service and is causing some delays to trains moving through the area.

On Saturday, February 24, CN reached a tentative settlement with the UTU. The UTU-represented employees will remain on strike pending ratification on March 26; however, the UTU leadership is urging its 2,800 conductors and yard-service employees to return to work during the ratification process.

On behalf of the CN team, we want to thank all our customers and industry associations for your continued support during the labour disruption.
