WCO Exploratory Study of the Harmonized System (HS) – interim Report Now Available

Some CSCB members and designates have watched with interest the developments with the World Customs Organization (WCO) exploratory study and review of the Harmonized System of Tariff Classification (HS).

The International Federation of Customs Brokers Associations (IFCBA) supported this study, and the CSCB has participated by virtue of its membership in IFCBA and the role of CSCB past-President Carol West as IFCBA Secretary.  The IFCBA participated with WCO delegates and presenters at the conference in Brussels that launched the review, and it prepared a submission based on member input which was considered during the review. The IFCBA also dedicated a half-day at a global conference in Singapore to a detailed discussion of the HS, including practical classification debates.

We encourage you to review the WCO interim report and to provide any comments or feedback by email at [email protected] so we can provide further input to the IFCBA on this important subject.
