Gross domestic product by industry, April 2011

The following is excerpted from a 30 June 2011 report by Statistics Canada. Real gross domestic product was unchanged in April after increasing 0.3% in March. Both the goods-producing and the services sectors remained unchanged in April.

Help-Wanted Index: June 2011

The Conference Board of Canada’s Help-Wanted Index is an indicator of the number of new jobs advertised online. Our empirical analysis has shown that variations in the number of jobs posted online are generally followed by similar variations in employment in the ensuing months. Thus, the index can be used to predict near-term employment trends.

Consumer Price Index, May 2011

Consumer prices rose 3.7% in the 12 months to May, following a 3.3% increase posted in April. The increase in May was primarily a result of higher gasoline prices. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.2% in May.

Update to the Courier Low Value Shipment Program

On June 20, the CSCB provided members with copies of presentations from the June BCCC meeting. Included in those presentations were proposed changes to the Courier LVS program.
