Oil crosses $104 US

The following is from the 4 March 2011 edition of "cbc.ca". Oil traded above $104 US Friday, its highest level since September 2008, and other commodities also headed higher. April oil in New York rose on fears that unrest in the Middle East and North Africa will disrupt supplies, gaining $2.15 to $104.06 a barrel US at midday. In London, Brent crude — the European and Asian benchmark — added $1.23 cents to $116.02 per barrel on the ICE Futures Exchange.

N.A. surface trade rises 13.8% in December

The following is from the 4 March 2011 edition of Canadian Transportation and Logistics ”ctl.ca” Trade using surface transportation between Canada, the US and Mexico was 13.8% higher in December 2010 than in December 2009, reaching $66.5 billion, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) of the US Department of Transportation. BTS reported that the value of US surface transportation trade with Canada and Mexico fell 2.2% in December from November.

The global economy is still too uncertain to still the pot, the Bank of Canada said today, as it held the overnight rate at 1 per cent. The hold had been widely expected, and the Bank of Canada has not changed its rates since September 2010.
MTA to consumers: Expect to pay more for stuff

The following is from the 1 March 2011 edition of Canadian Transportation and Logistics ”ctl.ca”. The Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) is warning shippers and consumers that the sharp increase in diesel prices will have to be passed along the supply chain. Diesel jumped to its highest level in more than two years this week and has surged to $1.159 per litre in Winnipeg. That's up nearly 10 cents per litre in just one week. Prices have been driven up by ongoing unrest in the Middle East, particularly in Libya.
