CTCS Re-certification Policy

Former CTCS designates who wish to regain their designation and are eligible may do so by re-certifying. Re-certification involves payment of a fee and a successful completion of an examination.

Eligibility

An individual who has lost their CTCS designation in the past 6 years is eligible to re-certify. Individuals may re-certify only once.

Fee

The fee is CDN $550+taxes; includes the examination fee and the renewal fee in the year re-certification was obtained. Registration for CTCS re-certification will not be finalized until the CSCB National Office has received payment in full. There will be a CDN $35 fee for NSF cheques. Candidates may withdraw their application prior to examination; however, an administrative fee of CDN $50 will apply.

Examination

As with all CTCS exams, this examination will be held online, supervised by a CSCB staff member. It will be scheduled with the candidate during available CTCS exam dates/times. Exam requirements are the same as for the CTCS exams.

The exam consists of multiple choice and short answer questions. There will be 6 questions from each of the 8 mandatory CTCS modules and 12 questions from current trade events, for a total of 60 questions to be completed in 2 hours. The passing grade is 70%.

Candidates will not be given access to course materials; however, they may use any other reference materials. Examinations are not returned.

Certificates

Upon successful completion of the re-certification exam, the designate will be mailed a CTCS certificate and a pin. They may also use the designation, CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist), as long as the designate meets the ongoing professional development requirements.

Communications

Candidates are responsible for maintaining the reliability of all their contact information through their CSCB accounts. Failure to do so may result in delays of marks, certificates, or other documents.
