Industrial product and raw materials price indexes

The following is excerpted from a 2 May 2011 release by Statistics Canada. In March, the Industrial Product Price Index (IPPI) rose 0.9% and the Raw Materials Price Index (RMPI) grew a substantial 5.7%. The strong increase in petroleum prices was the main reason for the advance of both indexes.

Mexico to join ATA Carnet System

The following is from the 29 April 2011 edition of Reuters Canada. A decline in manufacturing production caused Canada's economy to shrink unexpectedly in February, reaffirming market expectations that the Bank of Canada will hold rates steady until the second half of the year.

Gross domestic product by industry, February 2011

The following is excerpted from a 29 April 2011 report by Statistics Canada. Real gross domestic product decreased 0.2% in February following a 0.5% increase in January. Manufacturing and, to a lesser extent, wholesale trade were the main sources of the decline. The decrease in manufacturing resulted in a 0.6% decline in goods-producing industries.
