First Shipment of Canadian Lambs Reach Vietnam

The following is excerpted from a 9 July 2012 news release by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz announced today that the first shipment of Canadian lambs successfully entered Vietnam. The first ever commercial sale of Canadian live ruminants to Vietnam, worth $50 000, is paving the way for an expanded market.

Chapter 89 was published to change the release recommendation from "Refer to CFIA-ISC" to "Approved" for the following HS code. 89.03 - Yachts and other vessels for pleasure or sports; rowing boats and canoes. This created requirement version changes for the following HS codes. 89.01 - Cruise ships, excursion boats, ferry-boats, cargo ships, barges and similar vessels for the transport of persons or goods. 89.02 - Fishing vessels; factory ships and other vessels for processing or preserving fishery products. 89.04 - Tugs and pusher craft.

D-98-08: Entry Requirements for Wood Packaging Material into Canada

CFIA have provided the 9th revision of CFIA Policy Directive D-98-08: Requirements for the Entry of Wood Packaging Material into Canada. This revision has been undertaken to reflect the amendments made to the International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM) 15 regarding approved treatments for debarked wood and marking requirements. In addition, the revision establishes specific import requirements for dunnage entering Canada aboard ships.

Official International Reserves

Correction Period for June Softwood Lumber Permits

Brokers are advised that the correction period for June 2012 Softwood Lumber permits ends July 10, 2012, at 17:00 ET. We remind you of the importance of submitting correct information on permits as this is imperative to the operation of the Softwood Lumber Agreement.
