PM welcomes all-member support for entry into Trans-Pacific Partnership

The following is a 19 June 2012 news release by the Office of the Prime Minister. Prime Minister Stephen Harper today welcomed the announcement by TPP members of their support for Canada joining the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). “Opening new markets and creating new business opportunities leads to jobs, growth and long-term prosperity for all Canadians,” said Prime Minister Harper. “A TPP agreement will enhance trade in the Asia-Pacific region and will provide greater economic opportunity for Canadians and Canadian businesses.”

The CSCB has learned of the passing of Robert James Colvin of Fenix Data Systems, Inc., after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Canada and Costa Rica Conclude Fourth Round of Talks to Expand Trade Agreement

The following is excerpted from a 15 June 2012 news release by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada. The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, today announced the successful conclusion of a fourth round of negotiations to modernize the Canada-Costa Rica Free Trade Agreement. Negotiations took place in San José, Costa Rica, from June 11 to 15, 2012.

PM announces signing of an agreement for the construction of the new Detroit River International Crossing

The following is excerpted from a 15 June 2012 news release by the Office of the Prime Minister of Canada. Prime Minister Stephen Harper today announced the conclusion of an agreement between Canada and the State of Michigan toward building a new publicly owned bridge crossing between Windsor, Ontario, and Detroit, Michigan. The agreement establishes the framework for each party’s roles and responsibilities for the construction, financing, operation and maintenance of the new international crossing.
