Canada to seek more trade ties with Russia

Facing criticism from Russian President Vladimir Putin that Canada is missing opportunities, International Trade Minister Ed Fast is poised to announce Canada’s first trade mission to Russia in three years. Mr. Fast will unveil details of the trip on Monday, a mission that’s expected to involve executives of 10 to 20 Canadian companies in engineering, aerospace, infrastructure and construction. Canadian trade surplus shrinks

The following is excerpted from the 9 March 2012 edition of CBC News. Canada's trade surplus fell to $2.1 billion in January as the value of exports fell, down from $2.9 billion the month before. However, it's the third consecutive monthly surplus. Total exports fell by 2.3 per cent, while imports edged down 0.6 per cent. Canada Welcomes US-Proposed Modernized Import Regulations for BSE

The Government of Canada welcomes the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) proposal to modernize its import regulations for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). Bank of Canada maintains overnight rate target at 1 per cent

The following is excerpted from an 8 March 2012 news release by the Bank of Canada. The Bank of Canada today announced that it is maintaining its target for the overnight rate at 1 per cent. The Bank Rate is correspondingly 1 1/4 per cent and the deposit rate is 3/4 per cent.
