The following is excerpted from a 15 November 2010 news release by Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat. The Honourable Stockwell Day, President of the Treasury Board and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, today concluded a trip to Venice, Italy, where he met with representatives of member countries of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to discuss improving public sector productivity as a key element in helping governments through the economic downturn and recovery.

This information is excerpted from the 16 November release issued by Statistics Canada. Manufacturing sales decreased 0.6% in September to $45.1 billion. The decline in sales was concentrated mostly in the transportation equipment industry in Central Canada. Constant dollar manufacturing sales fell 1.4% in September. Despite the decrease, manufacturing sales in September were 17.7% higher than their most recent low in May 2009. Since then, sales have increased in 11 of the past 16 months.

The following is a 12 November 2010 news release by Transport Canada. The Honourable Stockwell Day, President of the Treasury Board and Minister responsible for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, concluded a visit to Vietnam where he promoted the Asia-Pacific Gateway to an emerging Asian economy with growing trade ties to North American markets. Effective December 1, 2010, CFIA will require imports of fresh fruits and vegetables to indicate either the Federal Produce Licence Number or the DRC Membership Number. The registration codes for these, and for the signatory of the California Leafy Green Products Handler Marketing Agreement A (Alpha-numeric) and the Name of SENASICA certified grower/packer A (Alpha-numeric), have now been provided.

Further to our message of November 8 where CBSA clarified the requirement for a NAFTA Certificate of Origin for vehicles imported from the United States, CBSA has now provided additional information regarding vehicles from Mexico. The CSCB had also asked for confirmation that the requirement for a NAFTA Certificate of Origin applies to all commercial importations, and not just vehicles imported by a dealer. The country’s trade deficit neared a record in September as exports fell, prompting several economists to predict that the sagging trade picture will knock three percentage points off third-quarter growth – a similar magnitude as in the second quarter.
