Effective December 1, 2010, CFIA will require imports of fresh fruits and vegetables to indicate either the Federal Produce Licence Number or the DRC Membership Number. The registration codes for these, and for the signatory of the California Leafy Green Products Handler Marketing Agreement A (Alpha-numeric) and the Name of SENASICA certified grower/packer A (Alpha-numeric), have now been provided.

Further to our message of November 8 where CBSA clarified the requirement for a NAFTA Certificate of Origin for vehicles imported from the United States, CBSA has now provided additional information regarding vehicles from Mexico. The CSCB had also asked for confirmation that the requirement for a NAFTA Certificate of Origin applies to all commercial importations, and not just vehicles imported by a dealer. The Long-Range Identification and Tracking of Vessels Regulations enable Canada to better track vessels bound for Canadian ports and to monitor Canadian vessels internationally.

He's tapped Stephen Rigby, president of the Canada Border Services Agency, to be his new national security adviser -- a role Rigby has performed before. Rigby was acting national security adviser to the prime minister in 2005-06. He replaces Marie-Lucie Morin who was recently named Canada's representative at the World Bank.
