The Government of Canada has commenced the regulatory process to amend Item 5505 – Goods and Technology for Certain Uses of the Export Control List. This proposed amendment will serve to address the concerns of the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations and update the regulation to reflect current foreign policy and security considerations.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has removed temporary brucellosis testingrequirements for certain cattle and bison from British Columbia. Sexually intact cattle and bison that have resided in B.C. since March 25, 2010, are no longer required to test negative for brucellosis prior to export to the U.S.

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has published the Harmonized Sales Tax Place of Supply Rules. These rules help determine whether a supply is made in a province and are available here: http://cscb.ca/listinfo/Place-of-Supply-Rules-June-11-2010-E.pdf

Construction of a new CBSA facility at the Aldergrove Port of Entry is about to begin. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has developed a commercial vehicle traffic management plan to mitigate the disruption this construction may cause to our clients. It is important to note that this traffic management plan applies only to the northbound traffic (into Canada). No disruption or change in process is taking place for southbound carriers. CSCB members have asked several questions regarding the elimination of itinerant generic carrier code 77YY. Following are those questions, and CBSA's responses. CSCB: If a carrier arrives at the border without a unique carrier code, we understand he will no longer be allowed to proceed. However, will CBSA issue a penalty to that carrier? CBSA: No; the carrier will simply be refused entry into Canada.
