D10-17-38, Administrative Policy - Tariff Classification of Marble and Granite Blocks and Slabs

This memorandum outlines and explains the tariff classification of marble and granite blocks or slabs of tariff items 2515.12.00, 2516.12.10, 2516.12.90, 6802.21.00, 6802.23.00, 6802.91.00 and 6802.93.00. It reflects changes to CBSA policy made as a result of a decision of the CITT. Revisions Minor changes were made to the French version of this memorandum to align it with the English version. No changes were required to the English version except to update the "References" page to reflect changes to the CBSA structure.

The Electronic Commerce Unit's office will be closed on Monday, May 24th, 2010 due to the statutory holiday. For importers and brokers, the following are the accounting procedures for the statutory holiday: entries confirmed from May 22nd to May 25th, 2010 (inclusive) will appear on the K84 notice available on the morning of May 26th, 2010. The exchange rate provided the evening of May 21st will be in effect until May 25th, 2010 inclusive. Monday, May 24th, 2010 will not be counted in the calculation of Overdue B3 entries.

The purpose of this message is to inform you that the 2010-2011 tariff rate quota (TRQ) for frozen pork from the European Union will be accessible on Monday, July 5, 2010, at 12:00 hrs (noon) Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). Any applications submitted prior to 12:00 hrs EDT on Monday, July 5, 2010 will be rejected.

New [US] Customs Commissioner Speaks on Trade Facilitation, Transparency

The following is excerpted from today's edition of "WordTrade Interactive". In a May 13 confirmation hearing before the Senate Finance Committee, Customs Commissioner Alan Bersin said he will work to further facilitate legitimate international trade and improve consultations with public and private stakeholders. Bersin was recess appointed by President Obama in March, meaning that unless he is confirmed by the Senate he will be required to step down as commissioner at the end of 2011.
