This memorandum outlines and explains the provisions of tariff code 9966 of Schedule VII to the Customs Tariff which prohibits the importation into Canada of white phosphorous matches. Revisions The following changes have been made to accurately reflect the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) role in administering the provisions of the Customs Tariff: New terminology is used to reflect changes in organizational structure of the CBSA. A legislative reference section has been updated to show the relevant sections of the Customs Tariff and Customs Act.

The following message is from CBSA (EDI10-020). The exchange rate, effective March 16, 2010, for Venezuelan Bolivar Fuerte (VEF), has been revised. The correct rate should have read 0.2379 for March 16, 2010. Using the incorrect exchange rate will cause an error in the value for duty. The CCS system has been updated to show the correct exchange rate for this period.
