Imports of certain apple juice concentrate The Department of Finance is currently reviewing a request for the removal of the customs duties on imports of apple juice concentrate, not less than 700 Brix, for use in the production of apple juice. This concentrate is classified under tariff item No. 2009.79.10 of the Customs Tariff, dutiable at 9.35 cents/litre but not less than 8.5% under the Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) Tariff. There is no rate available under the General Preferential Tariff (GPT) for this concentrate.

National Import Service Centre Consolidation

National Import Service Centre Consolidation Members may have noticed recent delays in the CFIA release of goods, some of which appear to be due to the April 1 closure of the Vancouver Import Service Centre. CFIA are moving toward a single National Import Service Centre which is currently operational. However, this centre will not operate 24/7 until July 2010, when the Montreal Import Service Centre will close. The CFIA has sent the following message regarding these recent delays.
