Effective immediately, the Ukrainian market has been re-opened to Canadian live swine, and opened for the first time to Canadian swine genetics.

The following is excerpted from a 1 June 2012 release by Statistics Canada. Real gross domestic product (GDP) rose 0.5% in the first quarter, the same pace as in the previous quarter. Business investment contributed the most to first-quarter GDP growth. Final domestic demand grew 0.3%. On a monthly basis, real GDP by industry edged up 0.1% in March.

The Teamsters made the call after federal back-to-work legislation became law last night. The workers, including locomotive engineers, walked out nine days ago, forcing Canada's second-biggest railway to shut down its freight operations. CP Rail says its freight service will be back to normal in 48 hours.

The latest version includes an alternative to using the broker's BN. CBSA has indicated that the importer may account for these goods themselves using a B15 or B15-1, Casual Goods Accounting Document at the CBSA office closest to where the goods are held for release. The Canadian government will force striking workers at Canadian Pacific Railway back to work with fast-track legislation aimed at restoring rail service by Thursday, Labour Minister Lisa Raitt said on Monday. The government introduced the legislation in the House of Commons on Monday to end a work stoppage by 4,800 locomotive engineers, conductors and rail traffic controllers at CP Rail, Canada's second-biggest railway. CP Railway strike halts some international trade

The strike at Canadian Pacific Railway has put a stop to international trade moving through the rail tunnel connecting Windsor, Ont. and Detroit. CPR and Borealis Transportation share ownership of the tunnel. "The suspension of CP's freight network in Canada, due to the walkout means tens of thousands of carloads of freight are not moving. This is impacting our customers' business and Canada's economy," CPR spokesperson Ed Greenberg wrote in an email to CBC News.
