CBSA Message: CADEX Scheduled Maintenance Outage

B3’s and AO release queries transmitted to the CADEX system will not be processed during this time. Electronic Releases, RNS, ACI Marine, ACI Air, Rail and Highway Cargo will not be affected by this outage.

Requirement for Form 1

The CSCB has recently heard from a member that an importer has received a penalty under AMPS for failing to provide Form 1, Vehicle Import Form. We are also aware of the fact that this form has been the cause of many a headache, since the requirement for this form varies from region to region.

Energy Performance Standards for Set-top Boxes

Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is proposing to amend Canada's Energy Efficiency Regulations to add minimum energy performance standards for Set-top Boxes. A Set-top Box is a cable, satellite, Internet Protocol or other device whose primary function is to receive television signals from a specific source and deliver them to a consumer display or recording device such as a television or DVR. These include cable boxes and satellite boxes.

Bicycles from Chinese Taipei and the People's Republic of China

Notice of Conclusion of Reinvestigation This notice advises that, on July 7, 2010, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) concluded a re-investigation of the normal values and export prices of certain bicycles originating in or exported from Chinese Taipei and the People's Republic of China (China) pursuant to the Special Import Measures Act.

CBSA Message: Exchange rate for Myanmar (Burma) Kyat (MMK)

The following message is from CBSA (EDI10-059). The exchange rate, effective July 6, 2010, for Myanmar (Burma) Kyat (MMK), has been revised. The correct rate should have read 0.1869. Using the incorrect exchange rate will cause an error in the value for duty. The CCS system has been updated to show the correct exchange rate for this period.

Dumping case number: AD/1387 Dumping file number: 4214-28 STATEMENT OF REASONS Concerning the making of a preliminary determination of dumping of GREENHOUSE BELL PEPPERS ORIGINATING IN OR EXPORTED FROM THE NETHERLANDS DECISION On June 21, 2010, pursuant to subsection 38(1) of the Special Import Measures Act, the President of the Canada Border Services Agency made a preliminary determination of dumping respecting certain greenhouse bell peppers originating in or exported from the Netherlands.

NAFTA Tariff Preference Level (TPL) - Review of Wool Apparel Allocation Policy

Having considered the comments received from current allocation holders and the current state of NAFTA TPL utilization, the Minister of International Trade has decided to amend the above-noted policies. Therefore, effective July 5, 2010, the current balance of un-allocated TPL for the 2010 allocation year will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to exporters once they have utilized their current allocation.

Wheat, Barley, Wheat Products and Barley Products 2010-2011 Tariff Rate Quotas

This message applies to imports of wheat, barley, wheat products and barley products covered by items 161 to 191 of the Import Control List (ICL). The purpose of this Message is to inform you that the 2010-2011 tariff rate quotas (TRQs) for wheat, barley and their products will be accessible August 1, 2010. The TRQs are administered on a first come, first served basis. The following annual (August 1 to July 31) TRQ levels apply:

Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) 2010-2011 for frozen pork that originates from the European Union (EU)

The purpose of this message is to inform you that effective July 5, 2010, the frozen pork TRQ from the EU imported under tariff item No. 0203.29.00 of the Customs Tariff has been filled and therefore all imports to July 31, 2011 will be subject to the European Union Surtax Order. The surtax is applicable in the amount equal to the value for the duty (100%) determined in accordance with sections 45 to 56 of the Customs Act.
