Director, Trade Controls, Global Affairs Canada
Gilles has been serving as Deputy Director in Permit Operations, Client Services, and Reporting Trade and Export Controls at Global Affairs Canada since 2023. In this role, Gilles manages the data reporting on two critical IT systems for trade controls (NEICS & NEXCOL). These systems facilitate the issuance of 284,000 import and export permits, implement international trade agreements, and provide data analytics for Parliamentary reporting.
Before this role, Gilles was at Shared Services Canada, supporting the Data Centers Services Branch. Prior to joining the public service life, he was the Chief Operating Officer of a data analytics company in Ottawa, and in his teenage years he was a messenger/runner for several custom brokers at Mirabel airport in Quebec.
